Abstract

Sports participation has become essential for improving human potential and fostering holistic development in modern communities. Sports and physical education are essential for enhancing social inclusion, mental health, and physical health in the framework of India's vision of Viksit Bharat. The sports involvement to human potential enhancement is examined in this research, with particular attention paid to how it affects physical fitness, psychological health, youth empowerment, cognitive development, and skill formation. It also looks into the current state of sports participation in India, pointing out issues like lack of institutional knowledge, sociocultural hurdles, infrastructure constraints, and a lack of competent instructors. The study explores how sports might promote inclusive and equitable development by giving people from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds equal chances. In order to improve sports facilities, meaningfully incorporate physical education into the academic curriculum, and encourage grassroots involvement in rural and urban India, evidence-based policy recommendations are put forth. Together, the results highlight that playing sports is a strategic tool for long-term societal well-being, human potential expansion, and country development rather than just a pleasure activity. By fostering a more capable, empowered, and healthy populace, a comprehensive and inclusive approach to sports development, supported by strong legislation and community involvement, can greatly aid in achieving the larger goals of a Viksit Bharat.
